Your local Chamber of Commerce can be a great asset to your business. Why? If you have a retail or service business, or even if you are a manufacturer, the benefits your local chamber can bring to your business will usually far outweigh the cost of membership dues. Chambers almost always have a newsletter that will keep you abreast of what is happening in your community’s business world. They will also alert you to issues that may affect your business, and that you may want to take action on. In addition, they will usually provide some means for business-to-business advertising, whether in their newsletter or flyers, often at little or no cost to the business.
But the greatest benefit, I feel, of belonging to the chamber, is networking with other small businesses, and gaining visibility in your community by participating in their events and fundraisers. You may think you don’t have time for the chamber or cannot afford it, but this is one of those business opportunities that for most small businesses, you don’t want to miss!
